Watch your step. This city does not welcome the careless and it will take you time to find your footing.
Turnstone is a labyrinth of narrow, twisting steets. The tongue-clicking, brisk-walking locals will try and tell you that all the paths meet eventually, and that if you only keep your eyes on the Lightning Tower you'll soon reach the center. Do not listen; These people are not like you, they have lived in Turnstone all their lives, and more than likely have a little magic in their blood.
A crow might fly from St Edwina's Cathedral to Merwyn's College in seconds, but you will have to weave your way through dozens of different streets, doubling back on yourself again and again, and don't forget - two in three paths lead to a dead-end. If you meet a student on your way, it may take you even longer, as they are always up to something. You don't want to be caught-up in a stray spell, and they love to play tricks on tourists.
I'm afraid they'd pick you out at a glance. You're not dressed like a local, that's for sure. Keep an eye out for the University's navy capes, fluttering in the wind. It will save time if you turn back and go another way. There are other sorts too, that it's best to avoid. Theives and low-lives, who make their living picking at the scaps.
There goes one! The pretty boy with fair hair! Don't let his sweet smile and fine manners fool you, he's mixed up with some really dodgy characters. What's more, I've heard rumors he comes from bad blood. Black magic, ancient curses - you know, the sort. But that's a far longer story than I can tell here and now, and it would cost a coin or two more than I charge for directions...
