Holden Charmes
Our Protagonist
Despite never having being taught magic - or very much of anything - Holden has a gift for breaking curses and walking through walls. He can sense magic and tell a great deal about a magical object simply by handling in. A skill which came in useful when he was down on his luck, in the city.
At first, Holden made his living stealing, but when dealer, Elias Blackwood, realised what Holden was up to, he offered him a job as his assistant. A promotion to the other side of the counter.
At the time of our story, Holden is Twenty-one years old. His days are filled with work, people-watching, gossip, and rather too much drinking. But his dream is to attend Turnstone Univeristy, where all the greatest sorcerers study. It seems rather an impossable dream, given Holden's circumstances, but perhaps his luck is about to change.

Augustine Perseus Griffin.
August, to his friends.
A former child-prodigy who attended Turnstone University at only thirteen-years-old, Proffessor Griffin is widely considered to be the greatest spellcaster alive. He is sought out, far and wide, for his expertise.
Therefore, he doesn't actually teach or supervises students. Instead, he travels, conducts research and writes a great many books.
Although widely admired, many people would describe him as "perculiar." He dresses extravagantly, with a singular taste, has a weakness for deserts and a wicked sense of humour.
Although Twenty-six, he doesn't often look his age. He is still referred to as a prodigy by many, as if that is something that can never be outgrown. He sometimes wishes he fit in somewhere. But it is hard to get people to treat you like an equal, when no one is equal to you.
